What a baseball uniform has to survive

The pant is where orders are won and lost. We build ours in 240gsm double-knit polyester through the seat and knee, because a single-knit pant abrades through at the hip on a feet-first slide and you will be replacing it mid-season. Stress points at the belt loops, the fly and the knee are bar-tacked rather than back-stitched.

Tops run 140 to 160gsm micro-polyester interlock. Full-button, two-button and pullover plackets are all cut on the same body block, so a program can mix styles across a roster without the fit changing between players. The body is cut long: a baseball shirt that untucks on a swing is a shirt the player stops wearing.

Belt-loop and elastic waistbands, piped and un-piped plackets, raglan and set-in sleeves are all pattern choices rather than upcharges. Tell us which you want at the brief stage and the sample comes back that way.

Numbering and league rules

Most high school associations follow NFHS, which requires a number on the back at least 8 inches high, in a colour that contrasts clearly with the jersey. Front numbers are optional but conventional at 4 to 6 inches. Little League and travel-ball organisations set their own, and we cut to whatever your league documents say. Send us the rulebook page with your brief and we will confirm the spec on the sample rather than after the run.

Sizing and size sets

Baseball runs on four pant blocks: full length, relaxed, knicker and tapered. Youth grading is a separate pattern, not a scaled-down adult one. Most programmes order a size set with the sample so the whole roster can try before the breakdown is confirmed, which is the single best way to avoid a re-cut.
